Remote Judging System

Remote judging can be done in a couple of ways.

By cassette tape or CD where the club plays back the judge's voice while viewing the images,or a new system where a movie plays images, voice and mouse movements, all in synch. Judges using this system have MMedia (for MultiMedia) next to their name on the Accredited Judge’s List.

How does it work? The club either sends the judge a CD or gives a link to the images on the club site.

The judge then uses the programme to record the images on the screen, and at the same time, comments and points with the mouse as various points are explained .

The programme then saves it as a small flash file with its own html page and when it's played back, it looks just like a movie. It's recorded in 20 minute segments only and if more time is needed for one category, then the rest of the image evaluations is recorded in batches of 20 minutes and each file is saved as something like: B-Open-1, B-Open-2 and so on. Then A-Set etc.

All the files are burnt to a CD and sent to the club.

The club loads and views the html file for each segment in their browser and will see and hear the movie, complete with images, narration and mouse movements in synch as if the judge was there.  It can be paused for discussion on a particular image and resumed to continue.

The advantage of this system is the club can SEE the judge pointing to the parts of the image he or she is talking about, as in, crop down there, this area is burnt out, the lines here create wonderful patterns etc.

Cairns, Ipswich and Roma have used it and are very pleased with it. Give it a go.
