Judge's Scheme

There are four levels of judges including those who aspire to become a judge.  All levels are members of PSQ, either as a club or private member.
Apprentice This is for those who aspire to or are recognized as potential judges. The person goes under the wing of a mentor who assists the person over a period of time, years if need be, in the art and science of photography, presentation skills and judging skills. They are put on our mailing list of judges for special notices and can sit in on judgings at clubs, shows and other events to learn.  The person is generally already a competent photographer but needs to hone certain skills over a period of time. A mentor just needs to email us with the person's name, club, contact details and we will put him/her on our mailing list.

This is an important inclusion for the Society also as it gives the Society a bank of potential people coming up the ranks.

Are you a budding Apprentice or do you know of one who would be perfect for the job? Let us know or encourage the person to enquire further. It's good for all concerned.

Understudy This level is for a competent photographer and speaker who is deemed capable by a mentor or similar, to undergo 3 judgings under supervision, and one presentation. Upon submitting satisfactory scores as reported by a mentor, the person is accredited with the title PSQA and is available for club and other judgings. Understudy application form.
Accredited A largely self regulating system where a judge satisfies certain criteria annually: in attending a number of seminars and/or exhibitions to further their knowledge, at least 2 club judgings, and preferably one presentation. There is also a club feedback system where clubs may report exceptional judging anomalies. Full details here.
Special Events A person who no longer judges club competitions but can be available for panels and special events. The judge need to be a PSQ member (club or private) and  satisfy at least one year's certification under the new scheme and continue to attend seminars.
